In order for lodges to be in this group, they must score high in 5 areas. They include energy, water, waste/recycling, community, and land/nature conservation. Their scores are backed up with their Policies and Procedures. They also need to track of their consumption of energy.

Costa Rica is worth a special mention. So far, ten lodges have scored a perfect score of 5. This is not an easy thing for a lodge or hotel to do. It takes a true commitment on the part of the hotel. With that said, you’ll notice that 5 out of 10 of those hotels are located in Costa Rica. Kudos to Costa Rica!
