Hacienda Zuleta in Ecuador, lies in the spectacular Andean mountain range at 9,600 feet (2,800 meters) above sea level. And yet, the Hacienda is only two hours north of Quito, the capital of Ecuador. Hacienda Zuleta is a colonial working farm of 4,000 acres (2,000 hectares).

The Hacienda also offers mountain bikes, as well as horse drawn carriage rides on Hacienda grounds. Sights to see while riding are the milking, the agriculture, mountain views and the tranquil life of the community.

Guests can hike through pastures, woods, and mountain trails. Also, horseback riding on the trails or a horse drawn carriage. Mountain biking through the valleys and high grasslands. Hacienda also offers cooking classes, as well as embroidery classes. Bird watching is a favorite pastime and children's activities are offered as well.

Activities beyond Zuleta

Many activities are located within an hours drive of the hotel. Otavalo Market is a place to bargain for textiles and hand crafted items. Cuicocha Lake has boating, which is a good way to see the beauty of the lake. The provincial capital of Ibarra is surrounded by mountains and offers colonial architecture and museums. Hacienda La Compañía is the perfect place for breakfast and lunch. Afterwards you can stroll through the grounds and see the beautiful roses, one of Ecuador's largest exports.
